Goodbye Claudine and hello Greta! For fashion lovers like yours truly, I could not help but be mesmerized with the glitz and glamor that this new soap opera brings. Again, I am happy to have something to look forward to each night- that of watching ‘Magkaribal’ in ABS-CBN.
Truly, who would not be enchanted with Gretchen Barretto and Angel Aquino as they ramp in designer dresses? I am also left amazed as the stars parade themselves in Hermes, Chanel, and Louis Vuittons. Their actings are also not bad. The stars do really shine in their roles!
Gretchen Barretto of course, effortlessly portrays the role of the super sassy and ultra fashionable Victoria. Though
her acting has fallen prey to many critics, she is, in my opinion, still the perfect actress for the part. She is naturally sophisticated and stunning. She can make any clothing appear to be worth several thousands of pesos. Thanks to her role as a rich and famous fashion designer, she can make use of her own personal collection of designer items… My most favorite scene of her involved her sashaying her Hermes and spritzing perfume around Vera. She is so believable that you want to hate her and love her at the same time.
Angel Aquino convincingly portrays the kontrabida- Vera. No matter how much Victoria criticizes her fashion choices, she still exudes poise and elegance. Her style, coupled with her shining acting prowess, make her one of the stars to watch for every night.
Bea Alonzo brings to the screen a refreshing look. Her outrageous combination of clothing seems reasonable enough as she represents a budding designer who is carefree, risky, and brimming with potential. Her style, though not actually favoring my taste, is catchy enough for the younger market. Indeed, I could see my tween daughter emulating her appearance- mixing and matching spaghetti straps and blouses and adorning her body with colorful accessories.
I am proud to advertise this teleserye as something worth watching and waiting for each night…. enjoy seeing the stars battle each other in words and of course, in fashion.

From the day that Angel Locsin set foot in ABS CBN’s territories, I fell in love with her. I admire her guts and strength. Amidst the various attacks on her supposed disloyalty to the network that brought her to fame, she bravely held her head high and rebuilt her career in her new found home.
One of the perks of my current employment is that I get to go home early (Yipee!!). Because of this, I have had the opportunity of discovering Boys Over Flowers in Channel 2… As I was a certified Meteor Garden fanatic before, it was not difficult to take interest (and eventually, an addiction) to this famed Koreanovela. In comparison, this series is in many respects, better than the Taiwanese version. The lead stars are more glamourous looking and the story line is better written. However, regardless of which version is better or not, I still commend the genius behind Hana Yori Dango for effortlessly catapulting actors and actresses into stardom!
